
The first question that many of you will ask about training is "How much will this cost me?" Despite the numerous points of view about training saving you money in the long term, there is clearly a short term outlay that needs to be made.
Wherever you look, training isn't cheap. However, there are ways you can claim money to help with the costs of training and we guarantee to make sure you can access as many sources of funding as possible.
We are also able to access funding via the Train to Gain scheme. This, much publicised, scheme has been brought in with the backing of the government to help people get qualified to NVQ level 2 standards. The plant training, and NVQs we deliver are at level 2, so providing you meet some simple criteria, you should be able to access you training and NVQs for virtually no cost at all. What is Train to Gain?
Train to Gain is a government backed scheme that enables your business to access funding to help you qualify your workforce. The funding is also available if you are a self-employed worker providing that you are registered as self employed with the Inland Revenue.
You can access:
• FREE training to help your employees gain their first Level 2 qualification*
• Financial assistance towards the cost of training at Level 3 / 4 qualification*
•A contribution towards wage costs if your company has fewer than 50 employees*

Who is eligible?
For an employee to be eligible for a fully funded NVQ 2 under Train to Gain, they must have a contract of employment, be over 19 years of age, be a British Citizen for 3 years or more, and not already be qualified or working towards NVQ level 2 or equivalent (e.g. 5 GCSEs level A-C).
In order to qualify for financial assistance towards the cost of training at Level 3 / 4, employees must have a contract of employment, be over 19 years of age, be a British Citizen for 3 years or more, and not already be qualified or working towards NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
Employers with fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees may claim a contribution to wage costs for employees who achieve their first full Level 2, basic skills to support the achievement of the Level 2 qualification or Level 3 qualification. A contribution may be made for some or all of the time your employees spend on approved training during normal working hours, up to a maximum of 70 hours.
What does it mean for employers?
What it means for your industry is that Train to Gain allows you to access training and assessment that will directly contribute to improving your workforce, getting your workforce qualifications therefore enhancing their skills and creating a more professional image for your company. All this and it shouldn’t cost you a penny, but it will cost you time.
